Pastor's Bio

Dr. Gwendolyn Spratt has been a life-long example of resiliency and determination, for men and women alike. She came from humble beginnings. Born in the small East Texas town of Smithland, she is the 8th
daughter of nine girls, who were parented by Charlie and Susie Guinn.

Following her high school graduation, Dr. Spratt attended Concordia
College, where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education, but this was only the first step toward her goal of guiding children and adults alike in their life journeys. She continued to improve upon her ability to help others by obtaining her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development, from the University of Minnesota and ultimately completing her PHD in Theology from Grace International Seminary. Anxious to begin her quest to help others, Dr. Spratt began teaching school within Dallas Independent School District and continued teaching until she went into the ministry full time.

Dr. Gwendolyn Spratt has served as Senior Pastor of the Church of the Blood
Covenant in Dallas, Texas for 28 years.   She has been married for 41 years to Dr. Lorenzo Spratt MD. They have one child together, Dalen L. Spratt with whom Dr. Spratt co-authored A Mother’s GuideTo Manhood. Her favorite parts of this book are the life lessons that she has taught her son, which were passed down by her mother and father. She has proven that with resiliency and determination anything is possible.

Scripture of the Week: Psalms 89:34

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
